Kingdom Heart Cloud Versions Get ‘Busy Servers’ Warning

Once, long ago, buying and playing a video game was pretty easy. You bought the disc or cart, stuck it in the console, and hit play. Not so much anymore. Case in point: The not-so-great cloud-streaming-only versions of Kingdom Hearts released on Switch earlier this year recently got an update, and now feature a warning letting you know if it’s not a good time to play the single-player games you already bought. Welcome to the future. It sucks.Released yesterday, update 1.03 for all of the Kingdom Heart games on Switch seems to mainly add two features. In Kingdom Hearts 3, players can now choose between two performance options: “Prioritize Performance” and “Prioritize Graphics Quality.” These settings can be selected before you start playing and allow the game to either focus on a more stabl...

New Doctor Strange Action Figure Is Scarily Realistic, Has Arm Vipers

When I was a kid, I had a Luke Skywalker action figure with a lightsaber that slid out of his wrist. It was one of my prized possessions, even though the details were lacking. This version of Luke looked more like an elf from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer claymation film than actor Mark Hamill. His lightsaber was also oddly yellow instead of blue – a detail I always thought was odd. The point being, action figures have come a LONG way since then. Hot Toys' latest Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness action figure looks so realistic it could be in a wax museum. Benedict Cumberbatch's facial detailing is spot on, and the 30 points of articulation allow for many of his spell-casting poses to be recreated. To make sure these spell motions look just like in the movie, Hot Toys incl...

What Happens In Elden Ring? The Game’s Story, Part. 5: Leyndell, Royal Capital

Once you have a few Great Runes, your journey inevitably takes you to Leyndell as you attempt to claim the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord. But there are other powers who still stand in your way--others who still wish to take the throne.Your trip into Leyndell puts you closer to your goal than you've ever been, but there are also a few major revelations to be found here, as well. Retro Game Prices Are Being Manipulated, Lawsuit Claims

Screenshot: Heritage Auctions / KotakuThe market frenzy leading to record-breaking prices for retro games appears to have slowed since last year, but frustration over the collectible grading firm at the center of the spike hasn’t. Earlier this week a number of Wata Games customers filed a class action lawsuit attempting to put an end to some of the seemingly shady business dealings that allegedly sparked the recent gold rush in classic games like Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda.Filed in the Central District Court of California, the class action lawsuit (first spotted by podcaster Pat Contri) is on behalf of Jacob Knight, Jack Cribbs, and Jason Dohse, as well as other potentially “similarly situated” individuals. They accuse Wata Games and owner Collectors Universe of pumping up a bu...

Mario Strikers: Battle League Features Put On Display In New Overview Trailer

The Switch has been a prosperous era for fans hoping for follow-ups to their cult-classic favorites from several generations ago. Just last year, we got New Pokémon Snap, a sequel to one of Pokémon's most beloved spin-offs more than two decades after the fact. Now, 2022 brings us Mario Strikers: Battle League. Announced in February during this year's first Nintendo Direct, Mario Strikers: Battle League is the first entry in Nintendo's arcade-style soccer series since 2007's Mario Strikers Charged on Wii. While Nintendo gave us some tidbits of information on what to expect through Battle League's initial reveal, Nintendo really pulled back the curtain today through a new overview trailer, which you can see below. As with all the Mario-centric sports games, you control a group of Nintendo...

Trials Of Osiris Rewards This Week In Destiny 2 (May 13-17)

It's another weekend for Trials of Osiris, Destiny 2's high-pressure PvP event where the aim of the game is to earn a Flawless run. While it's easier said than done, the rewards are usually well worth the effort thanks to several Trials weapons carrying the handy Alacrity Origin Trait. That useful perk gives your Trials weapons increased aim assist, reload speed, stability, and range when you're the last Guardian standing or taking on enemies on your lonesome. While we don't know which map or Adept weapon you can earn for a Flawless Trials run just yet, we'll update this article when Trials kicks off. You can also check out where Xur is in case you're looking for more Exotic weapons.Trials will once again be active from Friday's daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET until the w...

Skyrim Player Recreates Themselves Perfectly With In-Game Face

The very first time I played Skyrim back in 2011 I rushed through the character creation and made a guy that ended up looking like Matt Pike, which ruled. The second time, though, I spent an age trying to put myself in the game and couldn’t get anywhere near it.I took photos of myself, I asked my wife for help, and while I could easily blame my weird face—it’s 70% forehead—for this, I am instead going to blame the limited tools available to me at the time. Given my hardships, then, it’s incredible to see how far character creation has come in the decade since the game’s release, because the pictures you’re seeing in this blog are an example of what players can do now (with a little bit of help, of course). This is AureliaRiddle, a Skyrim player who has achieved an almost complete likeness i...

Becoming Yoshi-P – Game Informer

Introduction Naoki Yoshida is a man of many words. Ask him any question, and he’ll answer in great detail. Which is terrific, because he’s had quite the career. There’s no denying that Naoki Yoshida is a massively popular and important figure to the Final Fantasy franchise. When the series hit a low point, Yoshida helped turn its tide, most notably helping transform Final Fantasy XIV after its disastrous launch into one of the most successful and revered MMORPGs of this generation. Nearly a decade later, he’s still finding ways to keep fans engaged with the content and returning for top-tier expansions like Endwalker. This consistency hasn’t gone unnoticed. Just this year, XIV received awards from SXSW, DICE, The Game Awards, and Metacritic in big categories, such as video game of the ye...

Apple Discontinues iPod, Mobile Gaming Icon, After 22 Years

Photo: Justin Sullivan (Getty Images)Pour one out for every kid who one-strapped a backpack in middle school, as they’re likely in mourning today. With Apple’s discontinuation of the 7th-generation iPod Touch, announced yesterday, it’s official: the iPod is dead.Ostensibly, the iPod was a music device, meant to digitize song libraries and move listeners away from the limitations and galactically better sound quality of physical media. (Whether such a shift was good for the music industry is, of course, another story.) But over its many iterations, the iPod also heralded another revolution: that of mobile gaming.Once upon a time, mobile gaming consisted of playing Brick or Snake on your parents’ dusty Nokia. And sure, following its 2001 launch, the iPod—which literally featured a shoddy por...
