STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A virtual camp experience offered by McDonald’s this summer spotlights food deals, menu hacks, limited-edition merch and music performances from pop artists. The “Camp McDonald’s”program rolls out on the Chicago-based company’s app.
Food deals throughout July revolve around the Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets, fries plus two menu hacks — discounted Apple Pie McFlurry (July 6) and a build-your-own McFlurry Sandwich (July 20).
There will be music performances each Sunday by BIBI (July 24), Omar Apollo (July 17), blackbear (July 10) and the Mickey D’s headliner, Kid Cudi (July 31.)
As for the merch, nostalgia will wash over the nation with ‘70s types thanks to a “Don’t Trip” Camp McDonald’s Collection from Free & Easy (July 7). Collaborations with Free & Easy, Ma®ket, innisfree and Kid Cudi will bring keepsake items.
There are seven McDonald’s on the Island — 1660 Richmond Ave., Bulls Head; 3267 Richmond Ave., Arden Heights; 260 Page Ave., Richmond Valley; 803 Forest Ave., West Brighton; 1815 Forest Ave., Graniteville; 501 Bay St., Stapleton. The Golden Arches at 2154 Hylan Blvd., Midland Beach, runs 24 hours daily.

A little Golden Arches fun fact for the borough’s books: The Graniteville spot was the first McDonald’s on Staten Island in 1973. It closed down in 2014 for a massive overhaul. Its grand reopening happened in February 2015 and was among the first outlets in New York City to offer kiosks. More recently, Staten Island’s first “Golden Arches” franchise owners officially have retired from the hamburger business as of Thursday, March 31, 2022. The Sweeney family said their “goodbyes” to Greenridge and Bulls Head patrons on that final night of proprietorship. The businesses continues under the tutelage of Lisa and Roy Iraci with their daughter Lisa, now operators of 15 Big Apple locations.
