If you love bacon, then you can celebrate that infatuation at the Modesto Bacon Festival. Also planned from Sept. 10-16 in the Modesto and Mother Lode regions are a pair of other festivals, music and a Latinx talent show.
Bacon fest
Celebrate the widespread love of bacon at the Modesto Bacon Festival. Attendees can expect plenty of bacon dishes, vendors, a cornhole tournament, face painters, DJs and live music. Also planned are craft cocktails, beer and a full bar.

Acorn Festival
The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians holds its annual celebration with the Acorn Festival in Tuolumne. There will be traditional dancers, native arts and crafts and more, including an intertribal powwow, barbecue dinner and Indian tacos.

Farm and family fest

Picnic at the Pops
The popular outdoor concert Picnic at the Pops returns to Modesto. Michael Cavanaugh will perform the music of Elton John with the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. Patrons often pack a picnic dinner to enjoy, but taking in alcohol is prohibited. Wine and other beverages will be available for purchase.

Latinx talent show

Modesto railroad history talk
Southern Pacific Railroad depots historian Jean-Guy Dubé will speak on the design and history of three of Modesto’s depots and others in the San Joaquin Valley. Hosted by the Modesto Art Museum, the event will feature rare photographs, maps and ephemera of Modesto and the Southern Pacific Railroad.
