VR game developer STOIC Entertainment officially revealed their upcoming game to be released for Meta Quest 2, ‘World War Toons: Tank Arena VR’, at Gamescom 2022 in Germany.
The casual VR tank action FPS game’s predecessor, Studio Roqovan’s World War Toons released in 2016 for Sony’s Playstation VR, had generated 800,000 downloads, proving its appeal.
STOIC focused on the tank battle features of the original World War Toons and released the VR theme park arcade version in 2019. Afterwards, they had been fine-tuning the game for Meta Quest 2.
Players can pilot and battle with World War II era tanks such as the Sherman or Tiger, reimagined in the virtual battlefield as cute and cartoon-like vehicles. Each tank has unique fighting styles that can be utilized to battle with other gamers.
Starting with a basic release version consisting of 8 tanks and 3 battle terrains, STOIC plans to provide DLCs that will introduce additional world-famous battlefields and tanks that will diversify the gamers’ strategy and tactical approaches.
“With our original VR motion sickness reduction technology, development into UI/UX specialized for VR and our partnership with SK Telecom and Meta, we are more than ready to release our game in the official Meta Store”, said Yoon-hwa Choi, CEO of STOIC. “We’re confident that Quest 2 users will fall in love with our action-packed, fun title.”
STOIC is also preparing for a North American Focused Group Test for World War Toons: Tank Arena VR around early September before the official launch. You can check for additional details regarding the FGT at starting from September 3rd.
