Washington CNN  —  Multiple lawsuits have been filed in Illinois challenging recently enacted gun legislation that bans certain firearms and high-capacity magazines in the state. House passes assault weapons ban

The House voted Friday to ban semiautomatic assault weapons, as negotiations over police funding legislation continue. Almost all Republicans voted against the bill, which passed 217-213, according to the Associated Press.
