Kotaku’s Cosplay Gallery From The 2022 New York Comic Con

New York was able to hold its biggest Comic-Con since 2019 last month, and fans certainly turned up for it; around 200,000 people went through the turnstiles between October 6-9 at the Javits Center, many of them cosplayers. In this gallery you’ll find a collection of some of our favourite cosplay from the event, with highlights ranging from people wearing costumes to people wearing enormous costumes.First, though, this video recap of the event by Mineralblu! Incredible Cosplay Photo Gallery From New York Comic-Con 2022

We post galleries from major cosplay shows all the time, and they’re always excellent, but for the recent New York Comic-Con one photographer wanted to do things a little differently.Wanting to try something beyond just taking nice photos, veteran photographer Andrew Boyle (disclaimer: I wrote the foreword for his book) thought that for this year’s show he’d try to make the cosplayer “the sole focus” of his work. “After my cosplay photo book ‘Heroes & Villains’ came out in 2017, I thought I’d relax it up a bit with the subject matter, but it kept pulling me back; the effort, the enthusiasm and the sense of community amongst the costumed fans,” Boyle tells Kotaku. “I shoot in a uniform style inspired by the portraits of Richard Avedon, so that the sole focus is the subject without backg...

E3 Will Be Back At The Los Angeles Convention Center This June

Photo: ESADespite the cancellations of prior years and the general uncertainty about its future, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) just announced that the E3 games expo will be returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center as a live event next year. So if you want to brave crowds of sweaty gamers to get a glimpse of upcoming releases, you’ll finally be able to do so. The show will take place from June 13 to 16. Digital events will also run starting from June 11 to the end of the convention. E3 2023 will start with several press- and industry-only days, after which the doors will open to fans looking to have a good time trying all the latest games.
